From Hermes to Home Opening Reception At The Waco Welcome Center

Mon, April 27 , 5:00 pm 6:30 pm

Please join Art Center Waco, Creative Waco, and Destination Waco at the Waco Welcome Center for a reception honoring the artists and opening this new exhibit.

This exhibition brings together the work of artist Kermit Oliver with that of artists Cade Kegerreis and Vincent Thomas, whom he mentored at a formative moment in their lives. All three artists are based in Waco: Oliver is an internationally renowned painter and the only American artist to design for the Paris fashion house Hermès. Kegerreis and Thomas are rising stars whose public art is visibly shaping Waco’s cultural story.

The exhibit features some of Oliver’s iconic Hermès scarf designs, with self-portraits and paintings by all three artists, highlighting the transmission of artistic vision across generations. Oliver’s deeply symbolic work—rooted in faith, mythology, and folklore—finds echoes in the work of these younger artists, who now shape Waco’s cultural landscape through their own practices.

At its heart, From Hermès to Home is a story of influence, mentorship, and legacy—honoring an artist whose quiet impact continues to resonate far beyond the studio, and whose presence ripples through the creative life of this community.
